Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Lantern, a video production service operated by Lanternworx. Using the service means agreeing to them.
Your account
You need an account to use Lantern, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live. Keep your password to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has got into it.
What you make is yours
You keep ownership of everything you upload and everything the service produces for you. We claim no rights over your videos. We store and process your content only to run the service for you — to transcode it, generate from it, render it, and publish it where you ask us to.
If you connect a YouTube channel, you are authorising us to upload specific videos you choose, on your behalf. You stay the owner and the publisher; we are only the mechanism.
What you are responsible for
You need the rights to what you put in, and to what you publish out. In particular:
- Footage, music and images you upload must be yours or licensed to you for the use you are making of them.
- Sounds imported from the built-in library carry their own licences. Several require you to credit the creator wherever the sound is used. The app records the licence and can write the credit for you, but complying with it is your responsibility.
- Anything you publish must follow the rules of the platform you publish it to, including YouTube’s Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
Do not use Lantern to make or distribute material that is illegal, that impersonates a real person deceptively, or that infringes someone else’s rights. We may suspend an account that does.
AI output
Lantern uses AI models to generate scripts, narration, images, video and metadata. Output is generated, not verified: it can be wrong, and two people can be given similar results. Check anything that matters before you publish it. You decide what goes out.
Paid plans
Paid plans and credits are billed through Stripe. Subscriptions renew until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your account — access continues to the end of the period you have paid for. Generation credits are consumed as used and are not refundable once spent.
Availability
We work to keep the service up but do not promise uninterrupted availability. Third-party AI providers occasionally fail or change, and features can change as a result. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose — you can download your media at any time.
Ending things
You can delete your content or your whole account whenever you want. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where required by law. Deleting your account removes your content, so download what you want to keep first.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, Lanternworx is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
